Dr. Tan is board-certified in both dermatology and dermatopathology, and has a special interest in dermatologic areas related to immunology and skin cancer. After studying molecular biology as an undergraduate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she pursued medical training at the University of California Los Angeles. There she earned an M.D. as well as a Ph.D. in immunology. Her interest in oncologic medicine and skin manifestations in immunocompromised patients led her to a medical internship at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. She then returned to the west coast and completed dermatology residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. With a continued interest in understanding the biology of skin disease, she then returned to New York City to complete a fellowship in dermatopathology at both Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr. Tan has a combined practice in medical dermatology and dermatopathology. Her clinical interests include skin cancer, alopecia, cutaneous disorders in the setting of HIV and transplant, and cutaneous eruptions in oncologic patients.
In addition to clinical practice, her academic activities include teaching dermatopathology to residents at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and collaborative basic science research projects in cutaneous oncology.
