Dr. Gerald H. Leventhal MD

Dr. Leventhal was wonderful. Very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. The front desk woman was incredibly rude and off-putting, however. I think he'd have a much better practice without her, but if you can suffer through her snideness and get into his office, you'll be fine from there.

My purpose for going to this appointment was for my annual physical. Dr. Leventhal's office is not the most modern, but I was perfectly fine with that. I always care more about the quality of the doctor. I arrived 15 minutes early to fill out my paperwork, and was seen in about a half hour even though I was the first patient of the day. He has one sole receptionist who handles phones, paperwork, etc. Dr. Leventhal does everything himself. First, I went in to sit with him and go over my medical history as well as my family's. He listened and at no point did I feel rushed. Then he did a thorough exam of my body, even checked my knee when I told him I had a partially torn ACL. Most other PCPs have only noted it, but have never gone so far to check it themselves. He does not have a nurse on staff, therefore he himself drew my blood. Throughout the entire time, Dr. Leventhal was extremely friendly - Perhaps the friendliest and most personable doctor that I have ever seen. He definitely took his time, chatting with me about his family and my interests and career, and made me feel at ease. For my purposes of an annual physical - this was great! For more serious scenarios, I am not sure if this doctor would demonstrate a sense of urgency, but I would go see him again.

I scheduled an appointment because I was sick and this office was conveniently located. Dr. Leventhal was very nice and efficient, however, the wait time was about 45 minutes and the front desk lady was not particularly codial. I am torn on whether I would come again. I did like the doctor, but the overall experience was not great.

I just switched jobs so I didn't have my new insurance card but the front desk woman was extremely rude and refused to speak to my insurance company or employer on the phone. She made me withdraw cash to pay for my visit upfront and wait 2 hours to see the doctor. The doctor was extremely professional, helpful and forced the front desk to give me back 75% of the money. I liked the doctor but would never come back because of the horrible front desk service.

Fantastic doctor. Dr. Leventhal made me feel instantly comfortable and was as gregarious as he was thorough. Can't overstate how good it was- is it unnatural to enjoy oneself in a doctor's office?

He's very old school, not medication-happy or into unnecessary tests, which I really appreciate. Friendly and personable. I would definitely go back.

Even though I arrived one hour late due to heavy traffic, Dr. Leventhal received me within 10 minutes. Dr. Leventhal is personable and professional. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Leventhal is a bona fide old school doctor who actually percusses your abdomen when he gives you a physical. He's obviously drawing on decades of experience which is really reassuring. He cares about what the patient says, asks good questions, and gives the strong impression that he knows what he's doing. His only shortcoming is making a bit too much conversation that was off-topic, but he curtailed it immediately when appropriate.

Thorough, caring, personable... Well worth the wait!

Being new to NY I needed a PCP ASAP. I was able to get an appointment the morning of and he was fantastic. Friendly, inquisitive of my particulars, and refreshingly appropriate. He is my PCP for good now!

Dr. Leventhal made me feel at ease and hopeful about managing my chronic illness. He's smart, thoughtful, experienced and funny. I feel lucky to have found him!

What a nice experience for a change! Very thorough examination with a physical who has compassion and a great bedside manner. He spent An appropriate amount of time with Me and ordered bloodwork. Most of all, he listened to all of my concerns. Nice man!

Well, I did have to wait an hour and a half in the waiting room which was a drag. Fortunately once I did meet Dr. Leventhal he lived up to all the positive reveiews here on zoc doc. He was engaged, humerous and thorough. He spent a good amount of time with me and I never felt rushed like I do most places now a days. He answered all my questions and happily made referrals for me for doctors for procedures that I needed to have done. That was really good because I feel that it will help me narrow down providers which is a godsend. I really felt like I had found the doctor I was looking for and now have someone I can call "my doctor". Priceless! I recommend him.

Waited about an extra 30 minutes after the time of my appointment but he is certainly worth the wait! Small, intimate office setting and everyone is friendly

I had full confidence in Dr. Leventhal from the moment I met him. He's all a patient should ask for. A rarity. Extensively experienced and knowledgeable, yet warm, compassionate, and attentive. He also has a wonderful sense of humor, which helped break down most of the fear I had built up on the way to my appointment :)

I only went for a physical for employment, but I was seen right away and Dr. Leventhal was very nice and easy to communicate with after I left about tests that I needed done.

Old-school feel. Friendly, personable, hands-on (draws blood himself - saving me a separate trip to Quest Diagnostics is almost worth it alone). Listens to patient input. Definitely will stay with Dr. Leventhal.

Dr. Leventhal has a lovely little office on Park Avenue where he actually does everything himself including the EKG, taking blood, etc. He was extremely friendly, kind, easy to talk to and concerned about me throughout. I am thrilled to have found him.

Dr. Leventhal is very nice and seemed very knowledgeable. My appointment was at 10 and wasn't seen until 10:30, but was worth the wait.

He was OK, but waited a pretty long time

Dr. Leventhal is a very genuine physician. I found his bedside manner fantastic. His receptionist was not as welcoming... but physicians should not be judged too harshly on their support staff.

The comments that were previously shared on Dr. Leventhal were so kind...and I must say the were spot-on. I had to find a doc in a pinch due to an illness right before traveling for the holidays. He was the kindest, most gentle doctor I've seen in AGES and is just a good person in addition to very knowledgeable. He took time to have a true conversation as well...I will most likely request to see him again.

he's a great doctor. he knew my name and really seemed interested in my health and well-being. he took time with me and did everything himself.

If you remember as a kid the doctor who knew you and your family and really CARED, Dr Leventhal is the one.. He treats you as if he has treated you your whole life. He is old school medicine, no phony here.. I recommend him to anyone who wants a REAL AND CARING DOCTOR..
