Shaun Murphy, M.D. grew up in Richardson, Texas and went to Jesuit High School where he was salutatorian of his graduating class. He received his medical training at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and completed his residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He began practice in the area in 1999 and joined Dallas Medical Specialists in July 2004. He is Chairman of the Board and the Medical Director of Dallas Medical Specialists.
In November of 2011, Dr. Murphy closed his private practice in order to accept the position of Chief Medical Officer for HCA Physician Services North Texas Division. We are happy to announce, beginning January 16, 2012 Dr. Murphy will start seeing patients in our new Senior Center of Dallas Medical Specialists at the same location as his previous practice on campus with Medical City Dallas Hospital. Dr. Murphy will see established patients age 60 and older and new patients 65 or older. Office hours are Monday-Tuesday-Thursday-Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm.

I will provide the highest quality of care and I will do so in an honest, compassionate and respectful manner,” said Dr. Murphy.
Dr. Murphy has special interests in diabetes, osteoporosis, hypertension, weight management, and medical management of patients after bariatric (obesity) surgery.
When away from the practice, Dr. Murphy enjoys golf, fishing and computer games, and is an aquarium enthusiast.

Very caring doctor.
I use DR Murphy as my primary care doctor (Internal Medicine). I am 74 years old and have seen many doctors in the Dallas area. DR Murphy is by far the best doctor I have ever used. He is a real professional,smart, and knows how to help patients with medical problems.
